GREEN BAY – The Packers started their array of seventh-round picks on the defensive side of the ball, drafting Kentucky cornerback Carrington Valentine (No. 232 overall)
The 5-foot-11, 192-pound cornerback was a two-year starter at Kentucky. He racked up 119 tackles, 16 pass breakups, two sacks and an interception in 35 games (25 starts). He moved to defensive back late in his high school career.
Valentine led Kentucky with 10 pass breakups in 2022. He didn't run the 40 at the combine but was clocked a 4.44 at his March 24 pro day. He posted a 39-inch vertical with a 10-8 broad jump in Indianapolis.
Valentine only played defensive back for one year in high school before committing to Kentucky. He still rated as one of the nation's top 100 cornerbacks by ESPN and Rivals. In that lone prep season as a DB, he made 32 tackles with five pass breakups while blocking two kicks.
