GREEN BAY – Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper and safety Evan Williams have been named to the Professional Football Writers of America (PFWA) All-Rookie team for 2024.
It's the latest in a series of honors for Cooper, who was named the NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month for December/January. He also was twice named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week in Week 8 (vs. Jacksonville) and Week 15 (vs. Seattle).
A second-round pick out of Texas A&M, Cooper finished his rookie season with 77 tackles (13 for loss), 3½ sacks, seven quarterback hits, four passes defensed, an interception, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries in 14 games (four starts).
Over the past five seasons (2020-24), Cooper is one of three NFL players to hit those marks in a season, joining Steelers DL Cameron Heyward (2021) and Bears LB Roquan Smith (2020). The 6-foot-2, 229-pound linebacker also led the Packers with 10 special-teams tackles.
Williams, a fourth-round pick out of Oregon, registered 47 tackles (30 solo), a tackle for loss, an interception, three passes defensed and a forced fumble in 13 games with six starts.
The 5-foot-11, 200-pound safety missed the final three games of the regular season with a quadricep injury but returned for Green Bay's wild-card playoff game against Philadelphia, recording four tackles and a pass deflection.
Washington quarterback Jayden Daniels was named both the PFWA rookie of the year and offensive rookie of the year while Los Angeles Rams linebacker Jared Verse was honored as the defensive rookie of the year.
