The Green Bay Packers on Tuesday announced a donation to Brown County's new Community Treatment Center, with a component of the donation supporting a commissioned series of art pieces by Green Bay artist Scott Menzel.

Menzel's pieces, titled "Seed of Life," will be on display in the entrance to the county's new facility on Green Bay's northeast side. Other components covered by the donation include flat screen TVs and other appliances. The total value of the donation is $25,000.

"It's a pleasure to continue our partnership with Brown County with this contribution to the new Community Treatment Center," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. "The new facility is going to serve the people of our county very well and we're excited to be involved in such a unique way through supporting Scott's wonderful work."

"We are thrilled to have Scott Menzel's artwork in the new Brown County Community Treatment Center," said Brown County Executive Tom Hinz. "Scott's life has been a journey and his artwork is a wonderful representation of that journey and lets people know there is hope. We also would like to extend a special thank you to the Green Bay Packers, for their continued support of our community and generous contribution which has made this display possible."

"The 'Seed of Life' piece for the Community Treatment Center is a personal favorite of mine. It represents overcoming obstacles, which is a common challenge for all of us," said Menzel. "The piece is about having positive energy around you to confront your obstacles.

"It's an honor to be able to represent myself through art and inspire others through my work. I want this piece at the Community Treatment Center to inspire others who see it, as much as I was inspired to create it."

Menzel, whose own inspiring story includes his overcoming Spinal Muscular Atrophy, has had his work also featured at Fratellos Waterfront Restaurant in Milwaukee, the Wisconsin State Capitol, Aloft Hotel in Green Bay, Green Bay Art Garage and the Neville Public Museum. The Brown County Community Treatment Center, 3150 Gershwin Dr., is featuring a public open house Tuesday, Oct. 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. The $20 million, 102,000-square-foot facility sits on 10 acres of land and includes a nursing home, inpatient psychiatric hospital and an outpatient clinic. Construction on the new community treatment center began in spring of 2009.
