Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy Wednesday announced two promotions and a new senior leadership structure for the organization.
Promoted in the organization were Betsy Mitchell, to vice president of organizational/staff development, and Jason Wied, to vice president of administration/general counsel.
The senior staff now consists of, in addition to Mitchell and Wied, Russ Ball, vice president of football operations/player finance, newly hired Laura Sankey, senior vice president of marketing and sales, and Vicki Vannieuwenhoven, vice president of finance.
"I'm excited about the new senior leadership staff," Murphy said in making the announcement. "The structure reflects the growth the organization has experienced in the past five years and gives us broader coverage across the organization. We'll have more people involved on a senior management level, which will allow their efforts to be focused more on their specific areas."
Mitchell is now in her 16th year with the organization, with the bulk of her Packers career spent as the staff/player development consultant. In her new role, she is responsible for all employee relations, professional development, strategic planning and deployment, leadership and management development, as well as the community outreach and human resource departments.
She has a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and is a state-licensed mental health professional with more than 25 years experience in private practice. She previously owned Mitchell Management Consulting, which specialized in performance and organizational development, program design, and performance enhancement for small businesses. She also designed and developed behavioral medicine programs for large multi-specialty medical clinics, and previously owned and managed a private behavioral care practice.
"Betsy has served the Packers very well through the years and I've been impressed with her work since I've joined the organization," Murphy said. "I look forward to her continued contributions and know she's excited to take on her new role."
Wied, a member of the organization since 2000 who most recently served as vice president of administration/corporate counsel, takes on the general counsel role to oversee all legal affairs for the organization, and continues his duties as vice president of administration.
"Jason has handled much of these duties for many years now, and this promotion more accurately reflects his work," Murphy said. "He's a great asset to the organization and will continue to serve the Packers well.
"Overall, the new senior management structure ensures the Packers will be well run. Our business operations are in great hands, and we also have football operations represented with Russ Ball, which strengthens our communications in all aspects of the franchise. I'm confident in the senior staff's abilities to serve the organization."
