Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy told reporters on Monday the leaguewide lockout hasn't reached the point that McCarthy would reduce the size of his team's playbook.
"A start date will dictate how much we take out," McCarthy said, during a brief press conference prior to the start of Monday's "65 Roses Celebrity Golf Tournament." McCarthy is the honorary chairman of the event, which has been chaired by Packers head coaches for the past 20 years.
"This is a huge event for us every year. I'm thrilled to be involved," McCarthy said of the tournament, which benefits the fight against cystic fibrosis.
A media eager for football news asked McCarthy lockout-related questions prior to the start of the golf outing, played at Green Bay Country Club.
"We have a plan in place if they do provide some workout dates prior to training camp," McCarthy said. He was speaking, of course, hopeful of a labor agreement between the league and its players.
"Every one of our opponents is in the same position we're in."
The Packers' June 16 ceremony for the presentation of Super Bowl rings was also a major topic of McCarthy's session with the media.
"That's when it comes together. I think it'll hit me that evening," McCarthy said.
The NFL has granted the Packers an exemption from the league's ban on contact between league employees and the players, for the day of the ring ceremony.
"I'm really looking forward to the ring ceremony, just to get together as a team," McCarthy said.
