PACKERS VISIT ST. LOUIS FOR ROAD PRESEASON OPENER

• Green Bay travels to St. Louis this weekend to take on the Rams in the Packers' first road contest of the preseason on Saturday night.
• Despite squaring off 93 times (including two playoff meetings) in an all-time series that dates back to 1937, this marks just the fourth preseason meeting between the clubs. The Rams hold a 2-1 edge in the all-time preseason series.
• This will be the first time Green Bay has faced the Rams in the preseason since they moved to St. Louis in 1995. The three previous preseason meetings took place in 1984, 1992 and 1994, with the last matchup coming at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison, Wis., on Aug. 6, 1994, a 14-6 Green Bay victory. The games in 1984 and 1992 were played in Los Angeles.
• Saturday night will mark just the Packers' second preseason game played indoors under Head Coach Mike McCarthy (2006-13). Green Bay's last indoor preseason game came on Aug. 28, 2009, at Arizona.
• Green Bay played the Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis during the 2011 preseason, but the roof was open for that contest. Prior to the '09 contest against the Cardinals, the last indoor preseason game for the Packers was at the Georgia Dome against the Falcons on Aug. 9, 2003.
• Green Bay visited St. Louis last year in Week 7, the fifth time in seven years (2006-07, 2009, 2011-12) that the teams had squared off during the regular season. The Packers topped the Rams in the 2012 meeting, 30-20, with QB Aaron Rodgers connecting on 30 of 37 passes (81.1 percent) for 342 yards and three TDs.
• Outside of their foes in the NFC North, the Packers have played more regular-season games against the Rams (five) under McCarthy than any other opponent in the NFL.
• The Packers have won four straight against the Rams in the regular season and 10 of the last 13 meetings dating back to 1992.
• Following the contest at St. Louis this Saturday night, the Packers will host the Seattle Seahawks at Lambeau Field on Friday, Aug. 23, in a nationally televised game on CBS. This will be the 20th time in the last 21 seasons that the Packers have appeared on national TV at least once during the preseason.

 WITH THE CALL

• Flagshipped by Milwaukee's WTMJ-TV and in conjunction with WGBA-TV in Green Bay, the game will be televised over a 14-station network throughout the state of Wisconsin, Upper Michigan, northeastern Minnesota, the Quad Cities and Des Moines in Iowa, Omaha in Nebraska and Honolulu in Hawaii.
• The top-notch broadcast team includes CBS's Kevin Harlan (play-by-play) alongside fellow CBS broadcaster Rich Gannon (analyst), with Rod Burks of WTMJ-TV serving as the sideline reporter.
• In addition to WTMJ-TV (Milwaukee) and WGBA-TV (Green Bay), three preseason games will be televised over WKOW/ABC, Madison, Wis.; WAOW/ABC, Wausau/Rhinelander, Wis.; WXOW/ABC, La Crosse, Wis.; WQOW/ABC, Eau Claire, Wis.; WLUC/NBC, Escanaba/Marquette, Mich.; KQDS-TV/FOX, Duluth/Superior, Minn.; KLJB-TV/FOX and KGCW/CW, Davenport, Iowa (Quad Cities); KCWI-TV/CW, Des Moines, Iowa; KMTV-TV/CBS, Omaha, Neb.; and KFVE-TV in Honolulu, Hawaii.
• In its second season, in conjunction with the Packers TV Network, Telemundo Wisconsin (WYTU-TV in Milwaukee and on Charter Cable elsewhere in Wisconsin) will broadcast three preseason games with Andy Olivares (play-by-play) andKevin Holden (analyst) calling the action.
• Milwaukee's WTMJ (620 AM), airing Green Bay games since 1929, heads up the 50-station Packers Radio Network, with Wayne Larrivee(play-by-play) and two-time Packers Pro BowlerLarry McCarren (color) calling the action. The duo enters its 15th season of broadcasts together across the Packers Radio Network, which covers 42 markets in six states.

WHAT IS AHEAD

• After enjoying some time away from the practice field this past weekend following the game on Friday night vs. Arizona, the Packers will practice four times this week, with all of the sessions scheduled for late-morning start times. The team departs for St. Louis on Friday.
• The practice on Monday, Aug. 12, was closed to the public, with the sessions on Aug. 13-15 scheduled to be open.
• Not including the Family Night scrimmage, the team will have 14 practices under its belt when it takes the field in St. Louis on Saturday night.
• Following the contest against the Rams, the team will take a day off (Aug. 18) from the practice field before returning on Monday, Aug. 19. The Packers will practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 19-21) leading up to their matchup with the Seattle Seahawks in the Midwest Shrine Game on Friday, Aug. 23, at Lambeau Field.

PACKERS FALL TO CARDINALS IN PRESEASON OPENER**

• Green Bay opened its preseason slate on Friday night vs. Arizona, with the Cardinals getting the 17-0 win in front of 73,738 at Lambeau Field, the largest crowd to ever watch a game at the historic stadium.
• QB Aaron Rodgersplayed one series, leading the offense down the field after the Packers started out at their own 13-yard line. He completed 3 of 5 passes for 62 yards, highlighted by his 50-yard pass to WR James Jones down to the Arizona 6.
• The Packers were not able to punch it in on the drive, with RB James Starks stopped just short of the goal line on 4th-and-goal from the 2.
• All four of Green Bay's quarterbacks saw action against the Cardinals, with No. 2 QBGraham Harrell seeing the bulk of the work (35 snaps). Harrell connected on 12 of 19 passes for 76 yards with an interception.
• Recently signed QB Vince Young took over for Harrell late in the third quarter and completed a pass for 7 yards and rushed for 12 yards on two carries. QB B.J. Coleman led the offense for the final two series and completed 2 of 7 passes for 15 yards.
• A pair of rookie wide receivers led the Green Bay offense, withTyrone Walker hauling in five passes for 41 yards (8.2 avg.), including a 22-yard grab in the first quarter, andAlex Gillett catching three passes for 21 yards (7.0 avg.). Starks led the Packers with 38 yards rushing on 12 attempts (3.2 avg.).
• Green Bay's defense limited the Cardinals to just 92 yards rushing on 35 carries (2.6 avg.). A pair of Packers 2013 draft picks, DE Josh Boyd and CBMicah Hyde, tied for the team lead with five tackles each.
