The Green Bay Packers have re-signed offensive tackle Barrett Brooks as a free agent, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Tuesday.

In order to make room for Brooks, wide receiver Chris Jackson was placed on waivers.

Jackson, who was signed last Saturday because of injury-related depth concerns at wide receiver, saw action on special teams in Sunday's win over the Carolina Panthers. He previously had been signed Aug. 1, 2002, and spent all four preseason games on the Green Bay roster, making 2 catches for 35 yards.

Brooks, a seventh-year NFL veteran, was originally signed by the Packers Sept. 26 before being released last Saturday to make room for Jackson. He has been re-assigned jersey number 77.
