The Green Bay Packers have released LB Desmond Bishop. The transaction was announced Monday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.
Bishop, who was drafted by the Packers out of the University of California with one of the team's three sixth-round picks in 2007, played in 69 games with 26 starts during his six seasons in Green Bay. He registered 310 tackles (224 solo), nine sacks, seven forced fumbles, an interception and 13 passes defensed. Bishop missed the entire 2012 season due to a hamstring injury sustained in the preseason opener at San Diego.
