The Green Bay Packers have signed G Greg Van Roten and released G Grant Cook and S Charlie Peprah. The transactions were announced Wednesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.
Van Roten (Van-ROH-ten), a 6-foot-3, 303-pound rookie out of the University of Pennsylvania, twice earned first-team All-Ivy League recognition and started all 30 games over his final three seasons for the Quakers. He will wear No. 54 for the Packers.
Peprah appeared in 67 games with 26 starts during his five seasons in Green Bay (2006-08, 2010-11) and registered 181 tackles (140 solo), seven interceptions and 23 passes defensed. A fifth-round pick by the New York Giants in 2006, he was claimed off waivers by Green Bay from the Giants in September 2006.
Cook, a rookie from the University of Arkansas, signed with Green Bay as a non-drafted free agent on May 14.
