Packers remind fans of enhanced safety measures, road closures

Fans that utilize Leo Frigo Bridge need to find alternate route to stadium

As fans are preparing for Sunday's Green Bay Packers-Detroit Lions game, the Packers are reminding game attendees of enhanced safety measures, implemented by the NFL at the start of the 2013 season.

In June, the NFL announced that no bags or purses are allowed inside Lambeau Field unless they are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and are no larger than 12" by 6" by 12". Small clutches that do not exceed 4.5" by 6.5" are permitted.

Stadium cushions are also not allowed as a part of the new policy, however, stadium seats and stadium pads that contain no pockets or zippers and are 18" wide or smaller are allowed. It is recommended that fans allow extra time for entry into Lambeau Field. Gates open two hours prior to kickoff.

The Packers are also reminding fans that the Leo Frigo Bridge, part of Interstate Highway 43, is closed indefinitely. Fans that utilize the bridge for travel to and from Lambeau Field should plan an alternate route.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is recommending that Packers fans travelling to the game allow extra time to reach their destination. As U.S. Highway 41 and Wisconsin Highway 172 receive the most traffic, alternate routes on city streets to be considered include Fox River crossings at Main Street, Walnut Street and Mason Street. Other alternate avenues to the stadium include Ashland Avenue, Oneida Street and Mason Street via the I-43 exit on the east side of the city. The Wisconsin DOT will have eight message boards alerting fans of detour routes off of Hwy. 172.
