The Green Bay Packers and Sargento came together Tuesday for an employee day of action at Paul's Pantry as part of the Sargento Touchdowns for Hunger™ program.
Dozens of Packers and Sargento employees teamed up to sort through donations and repackage bulk items to benefit the community-supported, free grocery store for families in need in the Green Bay area. As the Official Cheese of the Green Bay Packers, Sargento has partnered with the Packers for 22 seasons for the Touchdowns for Hunger™ program, where Sargento donates $2,000 for every Packers touchdown scored during the regular season. These funds are shared by Paul's Pantry in Green Bay and Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee.
"Paul's Pantry is honored to partner with two organizations that are synonymous with Wisconsin: the Green Bay Packers and Sargento," said Craig Robbins, executive director of Paul's Pantry. "Through the Touchdowns for Hunger program, Sargento and the Packers continue to make a huge impact on the lives of families in need. But the need in our community is about more than just food and funds. We also rely heavily on volunteers to give their time in support of our work to feed the hungry. That's why this Day of Action is so important to all of us at Paul's Pantry."
From 2002 until 2023, Touchdowns for Hunger™ has raised more than $1.85 million to help tackle hunger in Wisconsin and has provided more than one million meals to help feed families in need.
"Hunger Task Force is grateful for the more than 20 years of financial support we've received from Sargento through the Touchdowns for Hunger Program," says Matt King, CEO of Hunger Task Force. "Due to the Packers' on-field success, Sargento has helped us feed thousands of children, families and seniors in need in Wisconsin."
With 21 Packers touchdowns so far this season, Touchdowns for Hunger™ has added another $42,000 to be donated toward Wisconsin hunger relief.
"When Sargento partnered with the Packers 22 seasons ago for 'Touchdowns for Hunger,' we started a tradition that raises awareness of hunger in Wisconsin while celebrating our home team and our community," said 3rd Generation Sargento CEO Louie Gentine. "As a family-owned company, we understand that feeding people and providing access to food is how our communities win. We're proud to start off a new tradition and demonstrate our values by volunteering at Paul's Pantry which has been a part of our 'Touchdowns' program since 2008."
