The Green Bay Packers signed CB Otis Merrill to the practice squad. The transaction was announced Wednesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Merrill, a 5-foot-11, 188-pound rookie out of Illinois State, was originally signed by the Packers as a non-drafted free agent on May 14, 2012, after participating in the team's rookie orientation camp on a tryout basis. He was with Green Bay during the preseason before being released on Aug. 31. Merrill lettered three times at Illinois State and earned second-team All-Missouri Valley Football Conference honors as a senior in 2011. He will wear No. 47.
