The Green Bay Packers have signed rookie wide receiver James Jones, a third-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, and free agent center C.J. Blomvall. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signings Friday.
Jones, a 6-foot-1, 207-pound player from San Jose State, was named second-team All-Western Athletic Conference and team MVP with a career-high 70 catches for 893 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2006. First-round pick Justin Harrell is the only rookie remaining to be signed.
Blomvall, a native of Sweden, has played the past two seasons for the Hamburg Sea Devils of NFL Europa. He played two seasons at Temple University, where he served as team captain as a 2004 senior. He will wear No. 71.
Thompson also announced the signing of Carl-Johan Bjork, who will remain on the team's practice squad during the 2007 season as part of the NFL International Development Practice Squad Program. Bjork will wear No. 47.
