Packers sign Hoese to practice squad, release G Vermiglio

The Green Bay Packers have signed FB Jon Hoese to the practice squad and released G Jake Vermiglio from the practice squad. The transactions were announced Thursday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.

Hoese (HAZE-ee), a 6-foot-2, 238-pound rookie out of the University of Minnesota, signed with Green Bay as a non-drafted free agent on July 28 and played in all four preseason games for the Packers. A four-year letterman for the Gophers, he appeared in 41 games with 17 starts during his career. Hoese will wear No. 35.
