The Green Bay Packers have signed linebacker Steve Josue and wide receiver Scottie Vines, both members of the team's practice squad in 2003, to free-agent contracts, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman announced Monday.
Josue, the Packers' fourth of four picks in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL draft, spent the entire season on Green Bay's practice squad after being waived in the final cutdown for the regular season (Sept. 1). The 6-2, 222, Carson-Newman graduate played in four preseason games and logged 4 tackles (3 solo) with the defense, as well as 1 special teams stop.
Vines, a Wyoming alum, was signed to the Packers' practice squad Sept. 2 and was later placed on the practice squad/injured list (knee) Nov. 25. The 6-2, 203-pound Vines originally signed as a rookie free agent with Detroit May 2, 2003, and was waived Aug. 27.
