The Green Bay Packers have signed nose tackle Ryan Pickett to a long-term contract extension through the 2013 season. Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations, announced the signing Friday.

"We have continued to talk to Ryan and his representatives and are pleased we were able to sign Ryan to this extension," said Thompson. "He has been a key part of our success on defense, and we look forward to having Ryan be a part of our future in Green Bay."

A nine-year NFL veteran, Pickett recently completed his fourth season with the Packers. He totaled 47 tackles (25 solo) and one pass defensed in 2009 and was a key member of the Packers' top-ranked run defense.

He has seen action in 59 games for the Packers, including 55 starts.
