The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Kahlil Bell, released S Jerron McMillian and signed CB Antonio Dennard to the practice squad. The transactions were announced Tuesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.
Bell (first name is pronounced kuh-LEEL), a 5-foot-11, 216-pound fifth-year player out of UCLA, has played in 27 games with three starts during his NFL career with the Chicago Bears (2009-12) and the N.Y. Jets (2012). He has rushed for 633 yards on 148 carries (4.3 avg.) and has added 22 receptions for 150 yards (6.8 avg.) and a TD. Bell originally entered the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings in 2009 as a non-drafted free agent. He will wear No. 22 for the Packers.
Dennard (duh-NARD), a 5-foot-11, 189-pound first-year player out of Langston University (Okla.), entered the league as a non-drafted free agent with Jacksonville in 2012 and spent part of last season on the Jaguars' practice squad and then the remainder of the season on injured reserve. He also spent time with the N.Y. Giants this past offseason. Dennard will wear No. 35 for the Packers.
McMillian played in 28 games with two starts during his two seasons in Green Bay.
