The Green Bay Packers have signed RB Orwin Smith to the practice squad. The transaction was announced Wednesday by Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson.
Smith, a 6-foot, 209-pound rookie out of Georgia Tech, appeared in 51 games during his collegiate career and rushed for 1,839 yards and 20 TDs on 198 carries (9.3 avg.). He earned honorable mention All-Atlantic Coast Conference recognition as a senior in 2012 after rushing for 682 yards and five TDs on 79 carries (8.6 avg.). Smith will wear No. 34 for the Packers.
