The Green Bay Packers have signed TE Matthew Mulligan. The transaction was announced Tuesday by Ted Thompson, Executive Vice President, General Manager and Director of Football Operations.
Mulligan, a 6-foot-4, 267-pound fifth-year player out of the University of Maine, spent the 2012 season with the St. Louis Rams. He appeared in all 16 games with nine starts and recorded career highs with eight catches for 84 yards (10.5 avg.) and his first career touchdown.
Prior to his time with the Rams, Mulligan played for the N.Y. Jets for three seasons (2009-11), where he appeared in 34 games with 11 starts and made six catches for 60 yards (10.0 avg.).
Mulligan originally entered the NFL as a non-drafted free agent with the Miami Dolphins in May 2008. A two-year letterman at Maine, he appeared in 21 games with 18 starts in 2006-07, catching 23 passes for 268 yards (11.7 avg.) and two TDs.
