The Green Bay Packers and the Village of Ashwaubenon on Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. will officially dedicate a new roadway in Ashwaubenon as "Ron Wolf Way" in honor of the former Packers general manager. The public is invited.
The proposal was formally approved at the Aug. 22 Village Board meeting, and street signs will be installed tomorrow, with a dedication that will be attended by Wolf, Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy and Village of Ashwaubenon President Mary Kardoskee.
The new roadway is between Brookwood Drive and Blue Ridge Drive, a section of the street that was relocated in order to provide better access and traffic movements around the newly developed Titletown.
Wolf, a Pro Football and Green Bay Packers Hall of Famer, was the executive vice president and general manager for the Green Bay Packers from 1991-2001. Under Wolf, from 1992-2000, the Packers compiled the second-best regular-season record in the NFL (92-52, .639) while recording seven consecutive winning seasons (1992-98) and six straight playoff appearances (1993-98). While Wolf made many moves to shape the Packers into a consistent winner, he made three key transactions early in his time in Green Bay: hiring Mike Holmgren as head coach, trading for quarterback Brett Favre and signing Hall of Fame defensive end Reggie White. Those key pieces helped the Packers win three consecutive NFC Central Division Championships (1995-97), back-to-back NFC titles (1996-97) and a Super Bowl.
