GREEN BAY – The Packers will face the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional playoff next weekend at Lambeau Field.
The No. 6-seeded 49ers earned a trip to Green Bay by knocking off the No. 3-seeded Cowboys on Sunday in Dallas, 23-17.
The game kicks off in prime time on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 7:15 p.m. CT.
The Packers got the NFC's No. 1 seed by posting a 13-4 record and winning the NFC North. The 49ers went 10-7 in the regular season, placing third in the NFC West, to get a wild-card berth.
The two teams met out in San Francisco in Week 3, with the Packers posting a 30-28 victory on a walk-off 51-yard field goal by kicker Mason Crosby.
The upcoming matchup will be the ninth postseason meeting between the two teams. They have split the first eight contests, 4-4.
The Packers beat the 49ers in the divisional rounds in both 1995 and '96 before also winning the NFC title game between the two teams in '97.
The 49ers won the '98 wild-card game in a last-play TD pass, and then Green Bay won a wild-card matchup in 2001.
Since then, San Francisco has won three straight postseason meetings, beginning with the 2012 divisional playoff and the '13 wild-card game.
The 49ers also won the NFC Championship Game in San Francisco two seasons ago, the only postseason meeting in the series history involving the two current head coaches, Green Bay's Matt LaFleur and San Francisco's Kyle Shanahan. The 49ers were the top seed and the Packers were No. 2 then.
The Packers are 2-1 at home in the all-time postseason series, 2-3 on the road.
The other NFC Divisional playoff will have the winner of Monday night's Cardinals-Rams game (No. 5 vs. No. 4 seeds) traveling to Tampa to face the No. 2-seeded Buccaneers.
The two winners of the NFC Divisional games will meet for the conference championship, with the highest-seeded team hosting, on Sunday, Jan. 30, at 5:30 p.m. CT.
