Green Bay Packers WR Randall Cobband CBSam Shields have been added to the Pro Bowl roster, the league announced today. Cobb replaces Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant, who is unable to participate due to injury, and Shields replaces New England Patriots CB Darrelle Revis, who is playing in the Super Bowl. This is the first trip to the Pro Bowl for both Cobb and Shields.
Cobb finished the regular season tied for ninth in the NFL in receptions (91), 11th in receiving yards (1,287) and tied for fourth in receiving touchdowns (12), all career highs. He joined fellow Pro Bowl WR Jordy Nelson as the first duo in franchise history to both catch 10-plus touchdown passes in the same season. Cobb and Nelson became the first duo in NFL history to record 90-plus receptions, 1,200-plus yards and 12-plus touchdown receptions in the same regular season.
Shields started all 14 games he played in and posted 42 tackles (32 solo), two interceptions and 13 passes defensed (No. 2 on the team), while adding an interception in the NFC Championship. His 42 tackles and 62 interception return yards are the second most in a single season in his career. Shields was part of a secondary that helped Green Bay rank seventh in opponent passer rating (82.0) this season. He is the first Packers' cornerback selected to the Pro Bowl since Charles Woodson in 2011.
