GREEN BAY – Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs did not specify why he missed practices last week on Thursday and Friday, leading to a one-game suspension, but he said it wasn't about his role in the offense and he wishes he'd handled things differently.
Doubs spoke with the media Friday for the first time since everything transpired last week.
"I'd say there was some things going on off the field," he said, without elaborating. "As far as just the organization and the (coaching) staff, the players, there's nothing going on within that area. So I just want to make myself clear there."
Doubs said he addressed the team when he returned from the suspension earlier this week but didn't reveal what he said. He also said everything with his family is fine.
"I'm thankful I'm here now," he said multiple times, later saying "it wasn't that big of a deal."
Doubs practiced all three days this week and is expected to play Sunday vs. the Cardinals at Lambeau Field, Head Coach Matt LaFleur confirmed.
"I absolutely wish I would've handled things differently," he said, adding that he needed to "stay in better communication" and that moving forward he wants to show he's a "team guy."
He again clarified that wanting a bigger role or more opportunities in the offense did not have anything to do with his unexplained absence.
"It's a great offense here," he said. "Got some ball players in our room ... it's much bigger than just obviously me individually finding my role. In this league, it's just winning football games."
