GREEN BAY – Romeo Doubs says he still gets nervous every time he steps on a football field.

It sure doesn't look like it, though.

In the midst of another impressive training camp for the Packers' even-keeled receiver, Doubs built upon that momentum during the team's annual Family Night practice in front of more than 60,000 fans inside Lambeau Field.

The third-year wideout made several big plays under the Saturday night lights, but his back-to-back touchdown catches during an early red-zone period ranked among the offense's biggest highlights of the evening.

Doubs opened with a 6-yard TD off a slant from quarterback Jordan Love before skying for a 3-yard score off a quick fade on the next play. He put an exclamation mark on the two scores with a Lambeau Leap.

"I got the ultimate look and Jordan saw it and took advantage," Doubs said. "Just understanding the situation, timing, most importantly, and that's part of why the practice habits play a huge role. We hit on a fade, and I just know from this point on forward that we're going to keep progressing and continuing to practice those reps because, ultimately, we want to make them easier in a game."

Known for his consistency, Doubs has garnered praise from both Love and All-Pro cornerback Jaire Alexander for growth this summer. Offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich also credited Doubs for perfecting his routes in particular.

Doubs put all his skills on display during several nice connections with Love in 11-on-11 periods Saturday. After Alexander called Doubs one of his favorite NFL receivers last week, the 6-foot-2, 204-pound wideout showed his blend of fundamentals and athleticism when he hauled in a contested catch on third-and-4 against Alexander off a Love pass that zipped over a leaping Keisean Nixon.

Week by week, it's those types of plays that earn the respect of Green Bay's defenders.

"The guy proves it day in and day out going up against one of the best in Ja," rookie safety Javon Bullard said. "It's the things that the world doesn't see that makes him a great player. The things that he does before practice, after practice, I'm not surprised at all of what he's doing."

Green Bay's passing game had several marquee moments during Family Night, including second-year receiver Dontayvion Wicks freeing himself from the defense on a couple deep crossers off play-action.

Christian Watson also brought fans to their knees when he looked in a near-perfect TD pass from Love against Alexander in 1-on-1s between the receivers and cornerbacks.

The No. 1 defense had its moments, especially during the final two-minute period when the offense went four-and-out. However outside pundits perceive the Packers' 10th practice of training camp, Doubs felt it made for good work.

"I just feel like as a team, that's the most significant goal is to find ways to keep getting better," Doubs said. "Preseason is around the corner, regular season is right behind that. Just making sure we take advantage of our days, keep grinding."

Like many, Family Night also was special for Doubs on a personal level, as his 1-year-old daughter, Malani, joined him on the field during player introductions. Once the practice started, dad went back to work.

Regardless of whether it's gameday or practice, Doubs remains grateful for the opportunity. That's why he gets nervous when he steps between those lines – because he cares.

"I'm just thankful, man," Doubs said. "Just to get thousands of fans to come out to a practice, I don't think any other team is doing that. It's just a blessing."
