"Pre-draft picture" is a position-by-position look at the Packers' roster heading into the 2025 NFL Draft. The series continues with the offensive line.
GREEN BAY – The Packers' offensive line will have a new look in 2025, but the future remains as bright as ever for a unit that allowed the second-fewest sacks in the NFL last season.
Joining the ranks is former San Francisco left guard Aaron Banks, who has a strong get-off and downfield speed for a 6-foot-5, 325-pound interior offensive lineman.
Regarded for his run blocking and grit, Banks started 43 of his 53 games for the 49ers since being drafted in the second round (48th overall) in 2021.
His arrival opens the door for Green Bay to slide Elgton Jenkins to center, where the two-time Pro Bowler is set to supplant the departed Josh Myers.
The 29-year-old Jenkins is the longest-tenured player on the offensive side of the ball for the Packers, having started 85 of his 87 regular-season appearances.
Four of those starts have come at center, the position Jenkins played his final two seasons at Mississippi State. In the lead-up to the 2019 NFL Draft, ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper Jr. tabbed Jenkins as the No. 1 center prospect before Green Bay selected him in the second round (44th overall).
With Jenkins' move to center, Zach Tom appears destined for another season at right tackle. A fourth-round find in 2022, Tom received first-team All-Pro honors from Pro Football Focus last season while also earning votes in the AP All-Pro balloting.
While penciled in at their respective positions, Jenkins and Tom offer plenty of positional flexibility. Both have started at both tackle positions during their time in Green Bay and are candidates to move when injuries hit.
At the same time, the Packers are counting on 2024 first-round pick Jordan Morgan to not only add depth but also push for a starting job at left tackle and right guard after a recurring shoulder injury derailed his rookie season.
The 6-foot-5, 311-pound offensive lineman saw action in just six games. Morgan rotated with Sean Rhyan early on before making his first NFL start against Detroit on Nov. 3, when Jenkins started at center in place of an injured Myers.
Morgan played all 65 snaps but aggravated his shoulder in practice after returning from the Packers' Week 10 bye, which required season-ending surgery.
Rhyan wound up starting all 17 games at right guard while former seventh-round pick Rasheed Walker started at left tackle for a second consecutive year.
At the NFL Annual Meeting, General Manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters the Packers will give Morgan every opportunity to push both Walker and Rhyan this offseason. A three-year starter at Arizona, Morgan played exclusively at left tackle before Green Bay scooped him up at No. 24 last April.
Aside from Morgan's injury, the Packers were remarkably healthy on the offensive line last year. Myers was the only starter to miss a game due to injury, with Tom, Walker and Ryan becoming the first draft classmates to start every regular-season game together since the 1970 merger.
Across the NFL, Kansas City's 1974 draft class was the last to accomplish this feat (Charlie Getty, Matt Herkenhoff and Tom Condon during the 1981 season).
The Packers added another trio of offensive linemen in the 2024 draft. Joining Morgan were Jacob Monk in the fifth round (163rd overall) and Travis Glover in the sixth (202nd), both of whom played sparingly as rookies.
A fifth-round pick out of Duke, Monk was active in 10 games but didn't take an offensive snap. Glover played just 13 offensive snaps before being called upon in the Packers' wild-card playoff game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Filling in for an injured Jenkins at left guard, Glover picked up three penalties on 28 snaps before former undrafted free agent Kadeem Telfort stepped in.
A monstrous 6-foot-7, 322-pound tackle out of UAB, Telfort apprenticed for a year on the Packers' practice squad before making the 53-man roster out of training camp. He played in 16 regular-season games last year, taking 23 snaps on offense and 79 on special teams.
Former undrafted free agent Donovan Jennings is back after spending his rookie year on the practice squad. He'll compete with veterans Trey Hill and Marquis Hayes, both of whom joined Green Bay as future signings in January.
