GREEN BAY – The Packers have selected Texas A&M tight end Jace Sternberger with the 75th overall pick in the third round of Friday night's NFL Draft.
It's the first time the Packers have drafted a tight end since taking Alabama-Birmingham's Kennard Backman in the sixth round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
A consensus All-American, Sternberger appeared in all 12 games, catching 48 passes for 832 yards (17.3 yards per catch) and 10 touchdowns in his lone season at Texas A&M.
The 6-foot-4, 251-pound tight end started his college career at the University of Kansas before transferring to Northeastern Oklahoma as a redshirt freshman in 2016.
The Packers have four picks Saturday – one fifth-rounder (No. 150), two sixths (185, 194) and one seventh (226).
