Quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Green Bay Packers, safety Antrel Rolle of the New York Giants and kicker Jason Hanson of the Detroit Lions are the NFC Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the sixth week of the 2012 season (October 11, 14-15), the NFL announced today.
OFFENSE: QB AARON RODGERS, GREEN BAY PACKERS
- Rodgers completed 24 of 37 passes (64.9 percent) for 338 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions for a 133.8 passer rating in the Packers' 42-24 win at Houston.
- He is the first player in NFL history with six TD passes against an undefeated team with at least five wins.
- Rodgers had at least one touchdown pass in all four quarters. He threw three TDs to JORDY NELSON, two to JAMES JONES and one to TOM CRABTREE.
- Rodgers is one of only three quarterbacks in NFL history to complete at least 60 percent of his passes with at least 330 yards and six touchdowns without an interception. He joins TOM BRADY and Pro Football Hall of Famer Y.A. TITTLE as the only QBs to accomplish the feat.
- He is the first player in franchise history with six touchdowns and no interceptions in a game.
- In his eighth season from California, this is Rodgers' seventh career Player of the Week Award and second in three weeks (Week 4).
- Since Week 13, 2010, Rodgers' seven Player of the Week Awards are the most in the NFL during that span.
- Rodgers and BRETT FAVRE (12) are the only players in team history to win the award at least seven times.
DEFENSE: S ANTREL ROLLE, NEW YORK GIANTS
- Rolle had two interceptions and six tackles in the Giants' 26-3 win at San Francisco.
- He returned the first interception to the San Francisco 12-yard line and the second to the 49ers five. Both of Rolle's interceptions set up Giants scores.
- New York's defense recorded at least three interceptions and six sacks while holding an opponent to three points or fewer for the first time since November 24, 1985.
- Rolle was part of a defensive unit that intercepted 49ers quarterback ALEX SMITH three times; Smith threw five INTs all of last season. The Giants ended Smith's franchise-record streak of 26 starts without a multi-INT game.
- The Giants are the first team since the 1992 Dolphins to win by at least 20 points against an opponent that had won consecutive games by 30 points each.
- In his eighth year from Miami, this is Rolle's fourth career Player of the Week Award and first with the Giants. He previously won three times with Arizona (Weeks 11 and 17, 2007 and Week 9, 2008).
- He is the first Giants safety to be honored since 1998 (PERCY ELLSWORTH, Week 16).
SPECIAL TEAMS: K JASON HANSON, DETROIT LIONS
- Hanson converted all four field-goal attempts, including the game-winning 45-yarder in overtime, in the Lions' 26-23 win at Philadelphia.
- Hanson, who scored 14 points, helped the Lions overcome a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit and sent the game into overtime with a 19-yard field goal with three seconds remaining in regulation.
- He has nine career overtime field goals, tied for the most in NFL history.
- Hanson has 2,074 career points and passed JOHN CARNEY (2,062) for the third-most points in NFL history. His 2,074 points are the most ever by a player with one franchise. He has 479 field goals and passed Carney (478) for the third-most in NFL history. Hanson's 479 field goals are the most ever by a player with one franchise.
- In his 21st season from Washington State, this is Hanson's 12th career Player of the Week Award.
- Hanson (12) surpassed Pro Football Hall of Famer BARRY SANDERS (11) for the most Player of the Week Awards in team history.
- Hanson was the first ever NFC Special Teams Player of the Week (Week 1, 1993).
