Quarterback Aaron Rodgers has been named the NFC's Offensive Player of the Week, as he threw for 304 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions in the season-opener against the Saints.
It marked the ninth time in 53 career starts, including playoffs, that Rodgers put together a 300-yard/three-TD/no-INT game. That's the most of any quarterback in the league since the beginning of the 2008 season, when Rodgers took over as Green Bay's starter.
With a 132.1 passer rating, Rodgers compiled a 100-plus rating for the 30th time in those 53 starts.
Rodgers had won the NFC Offensive Player of the Week twice previously in his career, both last season. He won it in Week 13 against San Francisco and in Week 16 against the New York Giants, when he passed for a regular-season career-high 404 yards.
All three of Rodgers' TD passes against the Saints came in the first quarter. Only one other quarterback in NFL history has thrown for three TD passes in the first quarter of a season-opener, Buffalo's Jack Kemp in 1964.
Rodgers' 188 passing yards in the opening quarter were his most in any quarter in his career, topping the 181 yards he had in the second quarter at Minnesota in Week 11 last season.
Dating back to last season, the Packers have now won seven straight games, and Rodgers' numbers have played a big part in that.
