Sargento Foods Inc. is throwing support behind the Green Bay Packers this Sunday by increasing its donations to the "Touchdowns for Charity" program. Now in its seventh year, Touchdowns for Charity is a partnership between Sargento – the official cheese of the Green Bay Packers and Lambeau Field – and the Packers that raises money for Wisconsin food pantries.
Sargento will donate $5,000 to the Hunger Task Force in Milwaukee for every Packers touchdown and $2,500 to Paul's Pantry in Green Bay for each Packers touchdown by a wide receiver or tight end during the Big Game. During the regular season, Sargento donated $1,000 to the Hunger Task Force for every touchdown and $500 to Paul's Pantry for each touchdown by wide receiver or tight end. Post season, the Wisconsin-based company increased the donation to $2,000 for the Hunger Task Force and $1,000 for Paul's Pantry.
"While this has been a successful season for the Green Bay Packers, food pantries in Wisconsin have taken a hit. It makes Sunday's game even more exciting to know that the team's success will help those in our community struggling with hunger," says Lou Gentine, chairman & CEO at Sargento. "We look forward to watching the Green and Gold go all the way and helping the people in our state who need it most."
Since partnering with the Packers seven years ago, Sargento has contributed $590,000 to Wisconsin food pantries. This year, Sargento has donated $88,000 to Wisconsin food pantries on behalf of the Touchdowns for Charity program during the regular and post season.
