Executive Vice President, General Manager & Director of Football Operations Ted Thompson assigned the jersey number not long after hanging up the phone with the top pick and the jersey is available now, just as it hangs in his new locker.
"As soon as the general manager designates the number for our No. 1 pick, we put the jersey in production because that's what our fans want," said Kate Hogan, the club's director of retail operations. "We're excited to have Derek on our team. Packers fans always want the first-round choice's jersey and we recognize that so we make it happen quickly."
In recent seasons, Clay Matthews, B.J. Raji and Bryan Bulaga have been among the team's most popular offseason jerseys after their selections.
