GREEN BAY—Packers.com's review of the top plays of the season returns with another series of "Signature Snaps."
With each top five list, the accompanying video and poll will allow you, the fans, to review the plays and vote for your favorite. The top vote-getter in each category will then be included in our final "play of the year" segment.
The first installment of this year's "Signature Snaps" series features the top five rushing plays of 2012, presented here in chronological order:
Randall Cobb, 28-yard run vs. Chicago, Week 2
The Packers debuted Cobb in the backfield in the season opener against the 49ers, and his longest run of the season came the following week. Getting great blocks from Josh Sitton on Brian Urlacher and from Bryan Bulaga on Lance Briggs, Cobb made Chicago safety Chris Conte whiff in the open field. Cobb finished the regular season with 10 carries for 132 yards, or 13.2 per rush.
Alex Green, 41-yard run at Indianapolis, Week 5
Having blown a 21-3 halftime lead, the Packers trailed the Colts 22-21 in the fourth quarter when Green broke off the longest run of the season for Green Bay. Out of a full-house backfield, Green made two tacklers miss and set up the go-ahead TD on the following play, a lead the Packers would once again squander. Green finished the regular season as the Packers' leading rusher with 464 yards.
James Starks, 22-yard TD vs. Minnesota, Week 13
The Packers trailed the Vikings 14-13 late in the third quarter when Starks took a pitch around right end. New right tackle Don Barclay got in a linebacker's way and receiver James Jones got a block on the safety, springing Starks down the sideline for what turned out to be the winning score. This was the longest TD run by a Packers running back on the season.
Aaron Rodgers, 27-yard TD vs. Detroit, Week 14
The Packers quarterback actually turned in the longest TD run of the season for Green Bay, and it was also the longest of his career. Deftly escaping what looked like a sure sack, Rodgers scrambled to his right and found all kinds of open space as the Lions defenders stuck to their coverage assignments. The TD, coming early in the third quarter, gave the Packers their first lead in a game they trailed 14-0 at the start.
DuJuan Harris, 18-yard TD at San Francisco, NFC Divisional
A sparkplug out of the backfield for the Packers late in the season, Harris got a great block from T.J. Lang on 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman and then made the safety miss near the goal line. The TD gave the Packers a 14-7 lead late in the first quarter, the last time Green Bay would have the lead in the game that ended the season.
