GREEN BAY – Tight end Martellus Bennett has been listed as doubtful to play Monday night against the Detroit Lions with a shoulder injury.
Bennett practiced when the team returned from its bye week on Tuesday, but popped up on the injury report after not practicing Thursday. He also sat out of Friday's padded work.
Head Coach Mike McCarthy said he spoke to Bennett about his shoulder following Tuesday's practice. McCarthy told reporters during his Saturday morning news conference the 10th-year tight end was "taking a visit or two" to get more information on the shoulder.
The team was hoping to get more insight about the injury later on Saturday, according to McCarthy.
The Packers also listed linebacker Ahmad Brooks (back) and defensive tackle Quinton Dial (chest) as doubtful, while linebacker Joe Thomas will miss his fourth consecutive game with an ankle injury.
Starting left guard Lane Taylor (ankle) and cornerback Damarious Randall (hamstring/illness) are questionable to play against the Lions. Randall's illness was a new addition to Friday's injury report.
Taylor was limited this week in practice after injuring his ankle a week earlier in Minnesota. Justin McCray stepped in at left guard against New Orleans in Week 8.
If Bennett doesn't play, more could be asked of veterans Lance Kendricks and Richard Rodgers. Bennett, who is fourth on the team in receiving with 24 catches for 233 yards, has played more than 80 percent of the offensive snaps this season.
Kendricks, who has six catches for 94 yards and a touchdown, signed with Green Bay as a free agent last spring one day after Bennett agreed to terms.
"I'm definitely comfortable," said Kendricks, a Milwaukee native who played his first six seasons with the Rams. "Just being able to go through a few game plans, especially with well-known, divisional opponents, I think that helped a lot to learn a little bit. Being six years somewhere else, it's definitely a tough adjustment (but) I'm definitely confident and playing fast."
Safety Morgan Burnett (hamstring), tackle David Bakhtiari (hamstring), running back Ty Montgomery (ribs/wrist) and linebacker Nick Perry (hand) were removed from the injury report and should play.
