'Through the Lens' will appear once per week during the offseason. Packers team photographer Evan Siegle takes us inside his favorite shots from the 2016 season.

Hear Me Roar

cel·e·brate* - to do something special or enjoyable for an important event, occasion, holiday, etc. *

The art of the celebration. You've got the scream, the point, the flex and the list goes on. Every player does something different, but whatever they do is usually pretty cool to photograph. The hard part is trying to get a clean shot of the reaction.

I still think Clay Matthews has the best reactions and we all got to see the roar in Week 5 against the New York Giants. For this photo I was using a 400mm lens (ISO 4000, aperture = 2.8, shutter = 1/2000th).

Stadium Life

I'm sure I'm not the only one who misses game days. There's nothing better than a football game during the beginning months of the season, due to the nice temperatures and light. I'm always in search of a nice graphical image when I'm roaming around the stadium. This photo was taken hours before a preseason game against the Oakland Raiders. If I were to deconstruct this image these would be the things I like: First, the use of the bright empty stands, which allowed me to silhouette the player in the foreground. Second, the clouds add a nice layer to the image and it also helped with seeing the dark football. The last thing is the ambiance and stadium lights. I used a 35mm lens (ISO 100, aperture = 3.2, shutter = 1/8000th).

Legendary

Everybody loves Green Bay Packers great Jerry Kramer. The guy won five NFL titles and the first two Super Bowls – he's legendary. I always look forward to photographing former players during the alumni game. It's a feel-good moment for everyone. I'm not sure who gets the loudest cheer, but like I said before, everybody shows their love for Kramer. One of my favorite images from that day was of Kramer. I really like the details in this photo: his body language, his suede coat, his belt buckle and the wink of his eye. It's all legendary.
