On the eve of their final preseason game, the Packers orchestrated their customary walkthrough practice at Lambeau Field Thursday morning.
Although the practice was closed to the public, several members of the Lambeau Field construction crew chose to take their lunch break at 10:00 a.m., and watch the Packers from the bleachers while enjoying their sandwiches and a cloudless sky.
After completing his final preseason practice, rookie wide receiver Javon Walker shared his thoughts on his inaugural NFL training camp.
"It was long," the first-round draft pick said. "It was challenging, it was exciting. Just being able to catch a ball from Brett (Favre) is exciting. I'm looking forward to taking everything I've learned in practice to the regular season."
Starting next week, Packers practices will be moved to Ray Nitschke Field, with tarps lining the fences to provide a private atmosphere for the business of the regular season. While seclusion will have its benefits, GM/Head Coach Mike Sherman said he will miss the atmosphere of training camp.
"We should have no distractions during the season," Sherman said. "With the fans cheering us on and everything else (during training camp), we should have absolutely no distractions. It's great practice for us."
