RODGERS GOES DEEP TO NELSON, SETS NFL RECORD
The Packers led 14-0 when they caught the Bears in a coverage mixup on the first play of the second quarter. The miscommunication allowed WR Jordy Nelson to run wide open down the right sideline, and QB Aaron Rodgers hit him in stride. Nelson cut back across the field, going 73 yards in all for the score. It was Rodgers' 16th career TD pass of 70 yards or longer, setting a new NFL record that he previously shared with Brett Favre and Peyton Manning.
LACY TAKES SCREEN PASS 56 YARDS TO THE HOUSE
One game after RB Eddie Lacy set a career high with 123 receiving yards, the Packers kept him involved in the passing game. In the second quarter, Lacy caught a screen pass to the right, got a series of blocks from his offensive linemen and then cut back to his left all the way across the field, picking up more blocks from the wide receivers on his way to a 56-yard TD. It was Rodgers' third TD pass of 40 yards or more in the game, the first Green Bay QB to do that since Cecil Isbell in 1942.
COBB'S DIVING CATCH GIVES RODGERS SIX TD PASSES IN FIRST HALF
WR Randall Cobb more than made up for a fumble on the previous possession when he laid out and hauled in with one hand an 18-yard TD pass from Rodgers. It was Rodgers' sixth scoring toss in the first half, tying an NFL record for one half set by Oakland's Daryle Lamonica in 1969. The six TD passes for the game tied the Green Bay franchise record. Rodgers and Matt Flynn each had done that once previously.
