Named to his current position on Feb. 1, 2022, Connor Lewis enters his third season as assistant quarterbacks coach and his ninth season with the Packers. Originally hired as a football technology analyst intern in 2016, Lewis spent three seasons (2017-19) as a football technology analyst. He joined the coaching ranks as an offensive quality control coach in 2020 and then was promoted to special teams assistant/game management specialist in 2021.
In his current role, Lewis works in support of quarterbacks coach Tom Clements and also assists the team with situational football and game management. In 2023, Lewis worked with first-year starting QB Jordan Love as he became just the third QB in NFL history to post 4,000-plus passing yards (4,159) and 32-plus passing TDs (32) in his first season with multiple starts, joining Kurt Warner (1999) and Patrick Mahomes (2018). Love was one of only four QBs (Dak Prescott, Brock Purdy, Baker Mayfield) to rank in the top 10 in the league in passing TDs (No. 2), passing yards (No. 7) and TD/INT ratio (No. 7, 2.91) in 2023. Love's 32 passing TDs were the fourth most by a QB in his first season with multiple starts, trailing only Mahomes (50 in 2018), Warner (41 in 1999) and Daunte Culpepper (33 in 2000). Love threw for multiple TD passes with no INTs in nine games on the season (No. 1 in the league), tied for No. 1 in NFL history (Purdy) for the most by a QB in his first 18 career starts.
In 2022, Lewis assisted with QB Aaron Rodgers, who ranked tied for No. 5 in the NFL in completions of 20-plus yards (53) and ranked No. 7 in TD passes (26). In 2021 as a special teams assistant/game management specialist, Lewis worked closely with the special teams staff and focused on opponent scouting and game-plan preparation.
As an offensive quality control coach in 2020, Lewis worked with former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett with a focus on coaching the offensive line, a unit that allowed one sack/zero sacks in 13 games on the season, tied for No. 1 in team history. T David Bakhtiari and C Corey Linsley were both named first-team All-Pro by The Associated Press, while Bakhtiari and G/T Elgton Jenkins each received Pro Bowl honors.
As a football technology analyst, Lewis assisted the offensive coaching staff in data analysis, playing rules and game management. He worked closely with director of football technology Mike Halbach on various projects to help the coaching staff be prepared for upcoming games.
Prior to arriving in Green Bay, Lewis spent the 2015 season as an independent consultant for the Oakland Raiders. He was instrumental in evaluating contracts and building a database for the Raiders to store personnel items. Lewis was also responsible for calculating projected values of contracts and verifying key financial metrics for players across the league.
In his first role in the NFL, Lewis worked in the football analytics and information department with the New York Giants in 2014. He studied opponent trends and game-management situations to be used by the coaching staff. Lewis also assisted the coaching staff with self-scouting and opponent analysis.
Lewis earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics with a corporate strategy minor at Vanderbilt University (2010-14). While attending school, he spent three seasons working in the football office (2012-14), assisting the director of player personnel, the director of recruiting and the coaching staff. Lewis worked primarily with player personnel in evaluating high school prospects. He also spent time with the ticket-services department with the Tennessee Titans while attending school.
Born in Littleton, Colo., Lewis was a three-year letterman at Chatfield Senior High School (2006-2010) in Littleton, earning all-conference honors as an OLB in 2009. He also lettered in lacrosse for three years. Lewis currently resides in Green Bay with his wife, Krista.
