Former Packers DB Ronnie Burgess dies at 57

10th-round draft pick in 1985 played one season in Green Bay

GREEN BAY – Former Packers defensive back Ronnie Burgess has died at the age of 57.

A 10th-round draft choice by Green Bay in 1985 out of Wake Forest, Burgess appeared in seven games during one season with the Packers, his only year in the NFL. He intercepted 17 passes in his college career.

No cause of death has been released, according to The Sun News of Myrtle Beach, S.C., where Burgess had recently served as the assistant principal at Carolina Forest High School.
