Green Bay Packers assistant offensive line coach Joel Hilgenberg has made the decision to resign. The announcement was made Friday by Head Coach Mike McCarthy.
"It has been a great experience for me to be with the Green Bay Packers these past few years, and I am thankful for the opportunity I was given," Hilgenberg said. "I feel that it is more important now that I have more time to spend with my wife, Jeanie, and our daughter, Anna. I will miss all of the great people in the Packers organization that I have come to know, and I wish everyone the very best in the future."
Hilgenberg served as Green Bay's offensive quality control coach in 2011 and assistant offensive line coach in 2012-13. In his three seasons with the team, Hilgenberg was part of an offensive staff that helped the Packers rank No. 3 in the league in scoring (29.4 ppg), No. 6 in total offense (388.3 ypg), No. 4 in net passing yards (275.9 ypg) and No. 3 in fewest giveaways (55) over that span.
"I respect Joel's decision and understand his desire to focus on his family," McCarthy said. "We want to thank him for all of his hard work and contributions during his time with the Packers. We wish Joel, Jeanie and Anna all of the best in the years ahead."
