GREEN BAY – Former Packers linebacker B.J. Goodson has signed with the Cleveland Browns, the team announced Friday.
Green Bay acquired Goodson in a trade with the New York Giants on Sept. 3. The fifth-year linebacker played 254 snaps (24.4%) in 15 games with nine starts for the Packers, lining up predominately next to Blake Martinez in the base defense.
The departure of Martinez and Goodson in free agency means Green Bay's defense will have two new starting inside linebackers in 2020.
The Packers signed former Browns linebacker Christian Kirksey Tuesday and return former third-round pick Oren Burks, 2019 draft choice Ty Summers and promising undrafted free agent Curtis Bolton.
