The Green Bay Packers announced the addition of Richard Ingram to the medical staff for training camp as part of the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline Initiative. General Manager Brian Gutekunst made the announcement on Tuesday.

Ingram is a student at Meharry Medical College who specializes in orthopedics. The Shreveport, La., native played outside linebacker/strong safety at Mississippi College, where he majored in biology medical science with a minor in psychology. Ingram was also a 2022 Nth Dimensions Scholar, an education nonprofit empowering underrepresented minorities and women to excel in medicine and eliminate health disparities.

In 2022, the NFL, together with the NFL Physicians Society (NFLPS) and the Professional Football Athletic Trainers Society (PFATS), started a league wide expansion of the NFL Diversity in Sports Medicine Pipeline Initiative, providing medical students with the opportunity to complete a clinical rotation with NFL club medical staff. The initiative aims to increase and diversify the pipeline of students interested in pursuing careers in sports medicine to help make a positive impact in the medical field and, over time, help to diversify NFL club medical staff.
