The Green Bay Packers have nominated Riley Vertz for the inaugural Maxwell Football Club Girls National Flag Football Player of the Year award.

All 32 NFL clubs selected a female high school flag football player to represent their team for consideration for this year's award, which recognizes outstanding on-field performance, academic achievement and community service.

Vertz is a senior at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, Wis. She is a team captain and the leading scorer on the Lasers' girls flag football team that earned the No. 1 seed in this year's postseason tournament. Vertz maintains a 3.9 GPA and is heavily involved in volunteer work that benefits her school and community.

"The opportunity to continue the Maxwell Club's mission of promoting all aspects of football and amplifying the amazing efforts of young women who are pioneering the game of flag football is a great honor," said Mark Wolpert, executive director of the Maxwell Football Club. "The players, coaches and organizations who have championed the development of the game are to be commended, and the opportunities that now exist for girls and young women will continue to grow. The support of the National Football League is a huge driver for the growth of this game and the Maxwell Football Club is excited to play a part in recognizing excellence both on and off the football field for these amazing athletes."

One winner will be selected later this month and will be honored at the 88th Maxwell Awards, which will be held at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta on March 14, 2025.
