The Green Bay Packers claimed K Brayden Narveson off waivers from the Tennessee Titans and signed S Omar Brown and LB Chris Russell to the practice squad. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions on Thursday.
Narveson (6-0, 215), a rookie out of North Carolina State, was originally signed by the Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024, but was released following training camp. In the preseason, he connected on 6 of 7 field goals and made both extra point attempts. Narveson appeared in 57 games during his collegiate career, playing his final season at N.C. State (2023) after three seasons (2020-22) at Western Kentucky and two seasons at Iowa State (2018-19). He scored 409 points overall, converting 71 of 91 field goal attempts and all 196 extra point attempts in his college career. Narveson will wear No. 44 for the Packers.
Brown (6-1, 205), a rookie out of the University of Nebraska, was originally signed by the Denver Broncos as an undrafted free agent on May 10, 2024, but was released after training camp. He appeared in 52 games (37 starts) at Nebraska (2022-23) and the University of Northern Iowa (2019-21), recording 196 tackles (127 solo), three forced fumbles, 25 passes defensed and nine interceptions during his collegiate career. Brown started eight games in 2023 and earned honorable mention All-Big Ten accolades after recording 51 tackles (35 solo) two forced fumbles, four passes defensed and an interception. He will wear No. 40 for the Packers.
Russell (6-1, 235), a rookie out of Texas A&M, took part in the Packers' rookie minicamp this past May as a tryout player and was with Green Bay for part of training camp. He saw action in 58 games in college, recording 112 tackles (59 solo), 10 tackles for a loss, 4.5 sacks, three passes defensed, an interception, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. In 2022, Russell started all 12 games and finished No. 3 on the team with 66 tackles (33 solo), earning defensive Most Improved honors at the annual team banquet. He will wear No. 46 for the Packers.
