The Green Bay Packers have claimed TE Pharoah McKever off of waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Tuesday.
(FAIR-row mac-KEE-vehr) McKever, a 6-foot-6, 259-pound first-year player out of Florida International, was originally signed by the Pittsburgh Steelers as an undrafted free agent on May 8, 2018. After being released by the Steelers following training camp, he spent some time on the practice squads of the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars last season. In college, McKever played in 43 games with 15 starts, spending the first four years at North Carolina State before transferring to Florida International for his final year of eligibility as a graduate student. As a senior at FIU, he was named an All-Conference USA honorable mention. McKever will wear No. 84 for the Packers.
