Here are some noteworthy items:
-The initial roster consisted of 26 offensive players, 24 defensive players, and three specialists.
-The Packers kept three quarterbacks for the fourth time in five years. Undrafted rookie Tim Boyle earned a spot after showing a strong arm and pocket presence in three preseason appearances (26-of-53 for 294 yards, three TDs and two INTs).
-Eight receivers made the initial roster, including all three of Green Bay's rookie draft picks. That's the most receivers the Packers have carried through cuts in at least 10 years. Only once during that stretch did Green Bay keep more than six (2016).
-Four undrafted rookies made the roster (QB Boyle, S Raven Greene, G/T Alex Light, LB James Crawford). At least one undrafted rookie has made the roster every year dating back to 2005.
-Crawford, who was signed Aug. 8, is the first undrafted rookie to make the initial 53 after joining the Packers in the midst of training camp since Chris Banjo in 2013. He's also the first undrafted rookie inside linebacker to make the squad since Roy Manning Jr. in 2005.
-Five members of the Packers' 2017 practice squad made this year's 53-man roster: LB Reggie Gilbert, S Jermaine Whitehead, WR Jake Kumerow, TE Robert Tonyan, and CB Herb Waters. It's the first time in three camps Gilbert, Whitehead and Waters have made Green Bay's initial roster.
-Kumerow finished fourth in the NFL this preseason with 190 receiving yards despite missing the final two games with a shoulder injury.
-After keeping only three tight ends in each of the past three roster reductions, the Packers held onto four with Tonyan making the roster behind veterans Graham, Kendricks and Lewis. Prior to 2015, Green Bay took at least four tight ends into the season from 2010-14. Tonyan led all Packers tight ends with eight catches for 61 yards and two touchdowns this preseason.
-All told, 15 former college free agents currently are on the Packers' 53.
-The Packers went with seventh-round pick Hunter Bradley at long snapper over Zach Triner, who finished last season on Green Bay's practice squad.
-RB Aaron Jones is suspended for the first two weeks of the season. He is eligible to return to the active roster after the second game (vs. Minnesota, Sept. 16), but a corresponding roster move would be required if the Packers are at the 53-player limit.
-The Packers are carrying only two running backs (Jamaal Williams and Ty Montgomery) on their 53-man roster at the moment after waiving both of their fullbacks, Aaron Ripkowski and Joe Kerridge.
-The Packers released 32 players, placed three on injured reserve and one on reserve/suspended to reduce the roster from 89 to 53.
-The roster is not necessarily final. Waiver claims can be made through Sunday afternoon, and room must be made on the 53-man roster for any player claimed on waivers. Once the waiver period expires, teams can begin establishing their 10-man practice squads.
