The Green Bay Packers re-signed LB Kristian Welch. The transaction was announced Thursday by General Manager Brian Gutekunst.
Welch joined the Packers' practice squad right before the 2023 regular season and was elevated to the active roster on Sept. 28, appearing in 12 regular-season games and both postseason contests, primarily on special teams as he ranked No. 3 on the team with six tackles. He was originally signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2020 out of the University of Iowa. In three seasons, Welch played in 43 regular-season games and three postseason contests for the Ravens. The Iola, Wis., native posted five tackles (four solo) on defense and 22 tackles on special teams during the regular season and three tackles on special teams during the postseason with Baltimore. In 2021, he tied for No. 2 on Baltimore with a career-best nine special teams tackles and helped Baltimore's unit rank No. 1 in Football Outsiders' DVOA rating.
