The Green Bay Packers signed DT Joey Mbu. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transaction Monday.
Mbu (EM-boo), 6-3, 313, was originally signed as an undrafted rookie free agent out of the University of Houston by the Atlanta Falcons in 2015. After spending most of his rookie season on the Falcons' practice squad, he was signed to the active roster by Atlanta and appeared in two games. In 2016, Mbu split time between the practice squads of the Falcons and the Washington Redskins. This past year, he spent the offseason with the Redskins but was waived after training camp and signed to the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad. Mbu was elevated to the active roster by Indianapolis on Nov. 7, 2017, and played in seven games. He will wear No. 73 for the Packers.
