The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Reggie Begelton and FB Elijah Wellman to reserve/future contracts. General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the transactions Monday.
Begelton (BEG-ul-tin), a 6-foot, 200-pound first-year player out of Lamar University, has played the last three seasons (2017-19) in the Canadian Football League for the Calgary Stampeders. Begelton was just the fifth player in franchise history to record at least 100 receptions in a season. He finished his college career at Lamar as the school's all-time leader in receptions (227) and receiving yards (2,435).
Wellman, a 6-foot-1, 241-pound first-year player out of West Virginia University, spent parts of the 2018-19 offseasons with Washington after originally being signed by the Redskins as an undrafted free agent in May, 2018. In college, he played in 51 career games and registered 35 carries for 137 yards (3.9 avg.) and a TD while hauling in 16 receptions for 71 yards (4.4 avg.) and three TDs.
