The Green Bay Packers announced today they will recognize the American Red Cross as the nonprofit honoree for the Packers Give Back Game on Saturday, Aug. 26.
The preseason matchup between Green Bay and Seattle will mark the third annual Packers Give Back Game, which supports a benefiting charity from Wisconsin by highlighting their work and amplifying their message before and during the game.
Hundreds of American Red Cross volunteers and their guests will receive a free bus ride to the game, a food and beverage gift card and tickets to a designated area in the north end zone. Prior to kickoff, several Red Cross volunteers will take the field to be recognized.
Along the Fan Walkway and at Titletown before the game, fans can learn more about the Red Cross's lifesaving mission. At halftime, fans will hear from Red Cross instructors about the importance of Hands-Only CPR, so they can be better prepared to deliver care in an emergency until professional responders arrive.
"We're pleased to have American Red Cross volunteers join us for the Packers Give Back Game," said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy. "The Packers have partnered with the Red Cross for over 15 years on different initiatives and are excited to honor the Red Cross and their volunteers' life-saving efforts."
"We're honored to be recognized by the Green Bay Packers organization and we're so excited to be able to share this incredible experience with our dedicated volunteers," said Jill Orton, Interim Regional CEO for the Red Cross of Wisconsin. "Volunteers make up 90% of our workforce and they are at the heart of the Red Cross mission. They show endless compassion and dedication as they selflessly give their time to respond to disasters both in their community and around the country. We're grateful to the Green Bay Packers for elevating the power of giving back and for helping us salute our Red Cross volunteers."
