GREEN BAY – The Packers shifted back to the offense with the first of their two third-round draft picks Friday night, choosing USC running back MarShawn Lloyd with the No. 88 overall pick.

Lloyd (5-9, 220) began his college career at South Carolina, playing two seasons (2021-22) after missing the 2020 season due to a torn ACL. In 21 games with eight starts, he rushed for just over 800 yards and 10 TDs those two years before transferring to USC for the 2023 season.

Last year, in 11 games with six starts, he rushed 116 times for 820 yards and nine TDs, adding 13 receptions for 232 yards in the passing game to earn honorable mention All-Pac-12 recognition.

His 7.l yard-per-carry average ranked seventh in the FBS for backs with a minimum of 100 carries.

At the scouting combine, Lloyd clocked a 4.46-second 40 with a 36-inch vertical jump.

Lloyd will be in the mix as the Packers build their backfield depth behind free-agent acquisition Josh Jacobs. Veteran AJ Dillon returns, along with 2023 undrafted rookie Emanuel Wilson, with Lloyd joining the competition.
