The Green Bay Packers will bring the Packers Vs. Cancer initiative to Pulaski High School on Friday, Oct. 5, when the Red Raiders host the Preble Hornets.
Packers players Jaire Alexander, Josh Jackson and DeShone Kizer will join fans at the football game, which takes place at 7 p.m. at Pulaski High School at 1040 South St. Augustine Street, Pulaski. The players will interact with the crowd and throw autographed foam footballs into the stands at the end of the first quarter.
The event will also feature rally towels and raffle tickets for autographed Packers items for sale, with 100 percent of the proceeds being donated to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. Raffle tickets are $1 apiece and rally towels are $5.
The game is a matchup between two local high school rivals: Preble, coached by Dustin Gresen, and Pulaski, coached by Jerad Marsh. Both teams are 6-1 on the season so far.
The Packers Vs. Cancer effort, which is aimed at raising awareness of all cancers and raising funds to battle the disease, runs throughout the month of October. The initiative also features a variety of fundraising efforts, including an opportunity for shoppers at the Packers Pro Shop to contribute by adding $1 or more to their purchase that will go directly to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. Those who donate during October have the opportunity to put their name on a special card that will be displayed in the Pro Shop throughout the month.
Packers Vs. Cancer will be highlighted by the Packers-49ers game on Oct. 15, presented by Bellin Health, which will recognize cancer survivors on the field during the pregame Ambassador Line, the national anthem and halftime activities. Game attendees can also show their support with the game giveaway flag.
Additionally, the Packers Pro Shop is again selling a Vince Lombardi cancer awareness hat available for purchase at the Packers Pro Shop, with $5 from each hat sale going directly to the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation. Each hat purchased will also come with a free 100 Seasons pin, while supplies last, in-store and online at PackersProShop.com.
Named for the legendary Packers coach, the Vince Lombardi Cancer Foundation is dedicated to winning the battle against cancer by funding advancements in cancer research and compassionate care.
